It was so much fun meeting everyone and the show was great! Joie, Mike and Phil are the nicest guys and they all signed the set list and my ticket stub and listened to me babble about how great they are and let my husband take a picture of me with each one of them. Even met Mike's cousins from AZ. At first I didn't believe they were really his cousins, yeah right, like Gig is his brother, but they really were his cousins and they were very nice.
My ears were ringing all of Saturday and I had a charlie horse in my calf from jumping up and down but it was soooooo worth it. I was wondering what happened to Ethan and Chris - looked around to say goodbye but you were gone. What a drag about the cars.

Maybe it's just me, but the boys seemed genuinely thrilled with the crowd response. I hope we exceeded their expectations!

...I was chatting with the guys and really enjoying myself, when suddenly my phone rings, it was Chris telling me my car was being towed. Apparently his was towed, and some commie bastard tow truck driver was about to runn off with my car. Not cool...
....

I'm just glad that you had a car to get
you back home, luckily I crashed at some
friends' house and got my car the next day.
o.k., moving on...
I was happy to finally meet everyone before the show. You would never think
that we all would have anything in common just by looking at us and thats so cool.
Oh yea, met this guy at the back before the
show and he asked me if I liked dada, I said "yea" of course. He said
that he did also but that his dad was a huge fan. I thought, how cool
is that, this guy was like 20-something and hanging with his pop whom is also a fan.
I dunno, you just don't see that these days.
Kinda met Nicki and definitely noticed singlemalt. We were all right there in front
soakin it all up.
The performance was great but one thing that I really noticed was Phill's "fills". I
think that playing with all those fellow percussionists in Blue Man really reflects
in his playing these days...
Joie was solid as always while giving a true showmans effort and Mike was
having fun with a few arpeggios that even made himself smile.
Tone was great!
The crowd could not have been more receptive and I was psyched that so many
came-out and sreamed for the encores.
I am still reflecting on it all and will chime-in when I think of anything relevant.

Boogie Fever was pretty unexpected. It took me a second to register that I was hearing Dada play disco... is there nothing they can't do?
PS - I caught one of Mike's guitar picks. It bounced off someone's head and landed at my feet. Kudos to whoevers cranium that was.

The opening chords of Dim hushed the adoring worshippers. If we had all been given some green paint and some blue paint, I am sure everyone’s face would have been painted. The playlist had fourteen songs to start, each a gem. As they wound their way through old favorites like Trip With My Dad, Feet to the Sun and Ask the Dust, their playing and harmony grew stronger and stronger. By the time Joie sang Moon, his voice had reached full flower. When he gets warmed up, the dude has some pipes for sure. Phil. When I first heard dada, Phil was just in the background. Over the past 10 yrs and 4 CDs, he has become as integral to the sound of the group as either of the others. At this point, he is one of the premier rock drummers in the world. Yes, I put him in the same category as Kenny Aronoff, John Bonham, Ginger Baker and Charlie Watts. Phil is a truly superior drummer who can bang with the best of them, keeps immaculate time yet can also play behind the others when appropriate. Phil opened Posters with an intense solo that truly showed off his versatility. The crew finished off the regular set with the best live version of their one and only bonafide ‘hit’ Dizzkneeland that I have ever heard. It was inspired and extremely clean, staying just close enough to the CD version to be a good fit on the forthcoming live album made with songs culled from this tour.
The encore opened with Michael ‘taking’ requests. The first tune they played was Bob the Drummer. It’s a good one, but has not been one of my ultimate favorites.... until now. Michael’s vocals and sublime guitar on this choice totally blew me away. Michael briefly dazzled as well with a very short snippet of the Beatles’ Tomorrow Never Knows. This was a true tease. The full song with extended jam would have been most welcome. They ‘ended’ with California Dreaming. After another raucous ovation, they came back once more and started out with Boogie Fever. Alas, the end came all too soon. From the silly Boogie Fever, they launched the final song of the evening. Dorina, to my mind is their ultimate live song. And it was every bit the grand finale. Soaring vocals and guitars, drum crescendo, Dorina has it all. It was a fitting end to the evening. When the lights came up, it was with total reluctance that we made our way out into the cool Colorado night air.

It was "Tomorrow Never Knows", the last song on the Revolver album and a Lennon-penned gem recorded in April of '66, not "Within You Without You", which is the lone Harrison composition on the "Sgt. Pepper" album recorded nearly a year later. Phil sang the "Turn off your mind/relax and float downstream..." lyrics, and did a fairly good job of duplicating Ringo's great drumming as well.
I really loved this show--after a nearly 5 year dada drought (in the Denver area at least) it was good to get a 'fix' again. This was my sixth dada show since '92 and may have been the best in terms of sheer impact on me--maybe because I had never had to wait so many years since first seeing them at Herman's Hideaway(just a few miles up Broadway from this fine venue, and too tiny to accomodate them anymore). I actually found myself getting a bit choked up during the first few minutes of "Dim" at the onset--it almost felt like some sort of long lost family member or friend had suddenly returned.
Sticking around and talking to each of the guys was a real treat as well. They genuinely care about and are very appreciative of their fans, and talked about enjoying the show almost as much as we fans did. We're fortunate that they have a strong positive feeling for Colorado and that we can count on them including Denver or Boulder in whatever future plans they have. I'll return to the discs now to get me through the next drought--which should be shorter than the one leading up to May 2nd.

As a huge Beatle fan, I immediately recognized that drumming. "Within You Without You" has those wimpy little bongos; Ringo's drumming on "TNK" is like God...laters.

If they were playing KC on a weekend I'd go and share the driving but just not an option right now.
