"Don't you #@!#@! touch me"...I can't stop singing that song. Just got in a 3:15 am Friday morning. Great set from the boys. I met some board members: Jackie, Taki, Perk (he needed a helmet), and others I'm sure I'm forgeting. I even got to help Jeremy and be a dada roadie for the night and sit behind Phils kit to help out with the sound (bass drum only). Many pictures, will post asap. I Love these guys.

P.S. Many thanks to the couple who purchaced the signed "New Hope DADA poster" The 100.00 will go to the Butterfly Foundation who help children with cancer. To everyone who was there, thanks for a good turnout and response for the band. See you in Princeton!!! Matt from Philly

Laura, I handed out all of my stickers with Jackie...they went fast.

The Boyz continue to Rawk the crowd!
WOW, I didn't know about the poster going to the Butterfly Foundation!! That is such a wonderful idea and worthy charity.

Yuh know, I just am blown away! First, the boyz help out students in classrooms @ the Virginia Beach show ~ Now, they help out kids that need a little extra luv in PA... You'll never know just how much these grab my heart. :( I think I'm gonna go and have a good cry now! ;)

Thanks, for everything Matt! (Jacki too).

Oh what will our Super Hero Band do next??! Stay tuned for reports from the NY show! :)

Great show!! I met some really nice Dadaphiles there, Jackie, Mark(who drove from NYC and was going to the Mercury tonight) , Andy, and many others. The only bummer was being told I was not on the guest list (after receiving an email that I was). Thank God I waited to give my ticket away!! The high point was weeing "Paper/Scissors/Rock" played in its short entirety during soundcheck. Uncle Irv - I screamed for "Kiss Hollywood Goodbye", I even printed out the words, but the boys weren't havin' it, sorry! They played the best live version of"Dorina" I have ever heard them do, a fierce Gurley solo and great energy and harmonies. This is the one that should go on the cd boys!! Otherwise the set list was the same as the others except for "Hollow Man" which they seemed to not remember very well? They played that one live in '97, but that was more than a few years ago. They didn't do Cali Dreamin' and that was a shame, I would have traded that for Disco Duck (or whatever that Disco tune is). But the guys were slammin! At one point Joie stood right next to me and was shaking his head so wildly I thought he might have a seizure!! What energy they all displayed, fantastic performance. There was a problem w/ sound most of the night, they couldn't seem to get the volume they needed on Joie and Phil's mics, and there was unwanted distortion on some of the tunes. The band was vvery gracious to the fans and the place had at least a couple hundred people which , on a school night is pretty good! I was disappointed that I didn't get a chance to shake Matts hand and thank him for setting up this great show! Jackie told me he had a chemistry/beer shirt on, I asked a couple guys and they weren't him. Thanks Matt, that was a great thing you did getting them to play close to Philly, I for one am extremely grateful as I have never seen them live before. Thank you also Laura for your hard work on behalf of the band

I blew off a client yesterday, flew home and dashed to Triumph to see you--so worth it! Went home singing in the rain, feeling younger, happier...see you in Princeton!

I'm sorry that you weren't on the list. Well, the weird thing is the way that it worked out. Since you only brought a few of the stickers with you that I sent to you, it is just so strange that you weren't on the list to get in for your work handing them out. Gosh, I feel so bad that you forgot them and even worse that you had to pay to get in. But, even if you couldn't get in and brought along the stickers to pass out, I want you to know that I would've found a way to repay you for your time. I would never leave you hangin' 'cuz we're all family here. dada has integrity and bluecave has been nice enough to offer teamers to get into the show who are passing out stickers that the fans have offered up as a present. You would have been taken care of in another way. I am sure of it!

*just to clear things up for those who are new to the board ~ I am just a dadafan like you! I don't work for the guys in any way and I have never talked to them more than a few sentences after a show. *

Speaking of stickers, if you are going to the MD or NY show, please give a shout out to Benman so that he can unload his stash of www.dadatheband.com stickers on you.
:D

Ben, I wish that you could go to those other shows! It just won't be the same without you around to share the energy :)

Where are all my fellow NYC dadaphiles?
Let's get a rally going here....I can't wait till tonight. dada might not be the headliners, but the only way to keep them coming back, is to rock every house they play. Let's do it!!!
ps - Laura, I'd take more stickers but lembob can't make it so I took his!

The Triumph, although a place for some good beer, was an atypical place to see a show. The band was set up in a corner behind the bar, at floor level. There was a second floor which offered a balcony view, but only if you were at the rail. So my wife and I found a spot on the second level looking through wooden slats to see a side view of Joie & Mike. Once you got used to the view, it was pretty good, and was able to watch their enthusiastic interaction from above.
But the view aside, it was the sound I was there for, and the boys didn't disappoint! I've waited 10 years to see this band, and they lived up to everything you all have said. Certainly worth my trip from CT.
I knew the setlist from what's been posted here. "Heaven & nowhere" was MUCH better than I would have imagined. The Gurley jam in "feel me" was incredible. The passion in Joie's "Moon" exceeded my high expectations. "Baby really loves me" was just so melodic, but with some searing guitar jams. Joie, who was right below me, was just goin crazy, going into the first rows to jam. But for me, the show truly was made magical when, after sifting through about a dozen request cards, tossed a card onto the drum riser. From where I was I could read it--"Hollow MAn", one of my truly favorite Dada songs. They did a small warmup before launching into the song. I was so phsyched to hear that song (and get to sing along!) and also know it will be unique to the New Hope show!!
When they started into Dorina, I was sad that the show was coming to a close. But Joie & Mike burned the place down with that rendition. I wish I could have hung out to meet the band after, but my wife usually is in bed by 10, and it was now about 1:30. Maybe next time.
But the thing I came away with was this: It was so cool to see such a great band in such an intimate setting (slats aside!). These guys came from California to play for me (and you other folks there), and to jam with each other. That's refreshing, in light of the bullshit, commmercially-driven society we live in. Thanks guys.

Hi Benman, thanks so much for your good words. I agree 100% with you review of the show. I felt bad about the sound too but it didn't seem to matter. It is so cool seeing all of those people having such a great time. I wish I would have gotten to meet you too. Are you going to the Princeton show? I'll be there too!!! I got some great pic of last night. I'll send them to lance asap. Later, Matt.

Tim,

I was reading your message and I almost feel that I have to apoligize... :)

I was the guy standing next to you in the black tshirt that had the same standing area as you.. Except we were the lucky ones that were in the open area in between the bars!

All in all it was an AMAZING show. I havent seen anything about anyone that was able to tape.. Was there?

New Hope was awesome! I've waited 10 years to see DADA, and though Norva sounded great, I'm so glad my first was at a small club at close range (& good Irish Stout too!).

The show was rip roarin'! What gusto! They tore it up! The solos rocked! Phil slipped some Ringo in his drum solo too! A passionate, sublime version of Moon! Lots of folks singing along! A good hard Feel Me Don't You. And Hollow Man was a very unexpected treat!

Had no problem with the sound myself, but then I was next to one of speakers, so maybe it was different elsewhere in the club.

Got to meet the band, and they were all extremely patient, gracious & kind. Beautiful spirits they are.

Met some folks from the boards there too! All such nice folks! Thanks Taki & your buddy (whose name I can't remember now - not enough sleep!) for rounding up Phil for me! And BIG THANKS AGAIN TO MATT!

Did take lots of photos there. They will go to Lance later this week, and hopefully be on the site. In the meanwhile, here's the location on my website to view the best of the bunch - http://turtleandfrog.../dada/dada.html

My only regret is missing Princeton. But then, maybe dada twice in one week is just too much to ask!

=)

The Princeton show will be starting soon. I'm doing the next best thing--got my various live Dada compilation cd cranked as I try to finish some of my never-ending things to get done around the house (painting today). I'm still way up from Thursday's show. I didn't give my props to Matt, who, if I know who you were, would have had a couple of beers on me!
When I was a slightly younger man, I would have made it to more than just one of these shows. But thats the way it goes.
I guess I just wanted to keep this thread alive. New Hope was a great show. I saw people who must be some of you. But having only got there at 10:30, I had enough time to throw back a couple of Honey Wheat brews (good stuff!) and find my perch.
Just wanted to say It's been a great couple of weeks, checking the boards for updates, and site updates (thanks, Lance). We've all waited along time for these days. It's been great fun.
They call me. . .

Tim

I saw dada for the first time at the New Hope show...my 19 year old daughter is the real fan; they're her favorite band. Anyway, when I saw the post that said they were playing a local show, I decided to take her. What a treat!!! They were great, I really loved it. We enjoyed dinner before the show, them took up our standing positions at the rope, right in front of Joie. We met and talked to Matt and a number of other loyal dada fans. My daughter got a number of cherished souvenirs...a set list, great pix, a sticker from Matt, and Joie's bass pick which he handed to her at the end of the show! The guys came out after the show and gave autographs and took posed shots with her. Joie's autograph was remarkable...I never saw anyone else ever take that kind of time to give drawings like he made.

Since then I asked my daughter to burn me a CD with the songs from the show which she did.

Signed,

Your newest fan...Bruce from Chalfont, PA

Hi Bruce, when I saw you at the New Hope show you were going to have surgery the next day on your knee. How are you doing? Matt.
