I'm not sure I can spring for the travel now that I am a semi-broke grad student, nor can I verify that I have the time to travel back to Denver. There was a time when I was a government employee, trained in the art of wasting tax dollars while being overpaid to do so, and time was a plenty. I assure (youse guys) whom I shall now refer to as the "Denver kids" I will give it my all to try and get back to see the show, it probably won't happen, but you never know, maybe I can get a deal on a plane ticket......

Back in '98 or '99 they were doing some free show. I had heard "dizz knee land" but that was it. I went to the show because it was free. Needless to say, I was blown away. Bought the self-titled album and it has never left my cd-changer. This is one of the best rock bands in the last 20 years. You better believe I'll be there. It sucks that I found them right before they decided to take 4 years off, but kicks ass that they are finally coming back.

Sandy, its about 4-5 hours to my place in Lyman (I have moved), another 90 mins to SLC.
I saw Bob Dylan twice within 4 days in July. The first show, on my b-day (7-13), was in Casper WY, of all places. The 17th I saw him in SLC...great show, that one.
Seeing dada on two successive nights will beat that personal record, but its more miles on my car...*frowns*.
I DONT CARE!! Thanks to the guys again, for getting a date in SLC!!! Love it!!!!

The show at the Bluebird is fast approaching and I was wondering if there are any plans to have a get-together before the show like the last time (remember Bubba??)...
At any rate, I will be at the show with my date.

We'll figure out where and let everyone know. Maybe we'll get some other fans there too. Chris, any suggestions?

Sounds good to me. I was a little worried about anything on East Colfax but this place seems ok - at least they're not renting rooms by the hour.

The Goosetown Tavern is actually pretty nice. I've been there a few times. It is owned, or partly owned by Mayor Hickenlooper (I think, not positive). It wouldn't look good for the Mayor to be running a dive.

Chris, I will definitely be hanging out early, either in line at the Bluebird or there. I'm bringing along several friends (mostly dada first-timers) so I'm not sure how it will all work out. If I get a chance, I will try to find y'all. I briefly met Sandy and Phredd at the Gothic show. They may not remember but I think I would recognize them.

Bill,

I remember meeting you at the Gothic but needed a little help with the name. I'm terrible at that kind of thing. It will be good to see you again - glad you finally delurked.

I think I'd rather go to Goosetown since it's right across the street. I was only joking about the "rooms by the hour" although there are a few of those places around the Bluebird. It's an interesting and diverse neighborhood!

Anyone gonna be recording the show at the Bluebird? If so, please please keep me in mind if you are willing to put it out for the rest of us to pass on... Thanks!

Hey, thinking about coming down for the show...can anyone recommend a semi okay place to stay near the Blue Bird? (no vibrating beds, 2-way mirrors, chalk outlines on the floor or Norman Bates look-alikes lurking in the corridor)? I am staying with a friend who lives in Denver but I am sure we'll both be, well, driving won't be cool if we do it right and getting a room may be a safer option. Suggestions are appreciated!! ~E

I know! My Denver friend (his name is Face. Yes, "Face.") was going to go on Friday and totally twisted my arm into coming down for it. You come too. ;)

There's a Ramada just down Colfax a few blocks.

I just realized my return flight has me at the airport the next morning by 9 for a 10:00 flight, so we'll probably just stay sober enough to drive back home. That'll keep me from trying to stay out till 6AM. :)

Thanks everyone!

I know of nowhere safe and clean right near the Bluebird, your best bet may be to stay downtown.. perhaps the Oxford Hotel or Hotel Luna? Not sure of your price range.. those are both maybe 100-140 per night.. otherwise there are the usual suspects like Marriots, Hyatts etc. that would be a relatively short cab ride away. Anyone else have other suggestions??

My Denver plans fell thru.
Everyone that goes, ROCK ON!!!!!:)
Lester Burnham: When I was your age, I flipped burgers all summer just to be able to buy an eight-track.
Ricky Fitts: That sucks.
Lester Burnham: No, actually it was great. All I did was party and get laid. I had my whole life ahead of me.

Oh Twangster, that's too bad. We'll be thinking of you.

This is the last show of this leg of the tour - bet they hold NOTHING back!! I'm already thinking of making a road trip to Tucson next month.....

Just a little FYI for future reference. The Ramada Inn on Colfax (1150 East Colfax)is actually a nice hotel ~ just don't get a room near the elevators. The parking lot is gated, there is a restaurant and a couple of shops inside. Bands playing at the Ogden or the Bluebird usually stay there.

Doors are at 8 - so I'll probably be hanging out around 5:30 or 6.
