Hey gang!!!

I just got back from what could have been the most amazing show I've ever witnessed live!!! Okay well maybe thats a hard thing to really say, but really Dada rawked the house, and the place was jammed packed considering the promotion for these next few gigs is almost unheard of...

All the Dadaphiles were in attendance and we all sang the words to every song they played...I had the privilage of being dead center against the stage, and along with tons of handslaps, smiles, and thank you's for the great enthusiasm throughout, Mike passed along a set-list and guitar pick to me, and as he did I asked him "so we get a new album this year FOR SURE right?" He winked and said, "hell yeah" :D

It was really cool to see the guys together in what's been about five years now...Their stage presence was incredible, and they hugged and stood together after the show in awe as the crowd went nuts...You could just tell they really appreciated the incredible response, and fed off the energy...At one point Joie said "Well it's been what five years? We promise not to wait that long again."

Anyone else who was there, please sound off!!! Oh and heres the setlist inc ase you guys want to jot it down or just curious to know what was played :)

Dim
Playboy In Outerspace
Surround
Trip With My Dad
Feet To The Sun
Here Today Gone Tomorrow
Sick In Santorini
Heaven
Ask The Dust
Feel Me Don't You
Moon
Posters
Dizzkneeland
(encore)
Bob The Drummer
California Dreaming (Mama's & Papas Cover)
Dorina

Once again, an amazing show, I'll never forget it :)

Agreed!

It sure didn't seem like almost five years. They were clicking on all cylinders. Joie was amazing, and Michael was just ripping it up on guitar. I had some dada virgins in the crowd with me and they were both extremely impressed!

As for live album, I talked to Mike after the last Coach House BJ show and he said they'd like to do a live album from this tour, as well as release the 10 tracks or so leftover from the dada album -- contingent upon legel wrangling with MCA/Uni.

Thanks guys for a killer show! It was so cool to hear some of my absolute favorites played so intensensly (ex. "Moon," "Heaven and Nowhere")!!!

I also remember Joie saying that this was "the best L.A. show they've done," or something to that effect.

It was a spectacular show last night. Joie said "this is the best fucking L.A. show we've ever played isn't it? Am I crazy?"

They were amazing, as usual, and very glad to be there, which made us glad to be there. After seeing them several times now, I'm beginning to get used to the idea that Mike Gurley is pretty much on a level with Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, maybe even better than Clapton. My friend Jeff said "the only other guitar player I've seen (on film) who is as fluid an powerful as Gurley is Hendrix. That being said, I realized last night that Phil Leavitt is a creature from another planet. He has powers far beyond those of a normal human. Unflinching, relentless, amazingly accurate, amazingly solid . . . a MONSTER on drums. Joie of course held down the bottom end and just sang his ass off. How many bass players can keep such a great groove and sing like that? McCartney? Bruce? the late Phil Lynott? A rare animal indeed.

I had two Dada first timers with me as well and they asked the question that I've been asking each time I've seen these guys, going back into the 90s, and that is "why aren't they the most famous band in the world?" There isn't a band who plays better, and these days it's hard to find anyone who even knows one end of their instrument from the other, let alone aspire to virtuosity in rock and roll. Dada maintain a standard that other bands only dream of.

what an awesome review! i have felt this way about dada for years. well said! i even made my husband come upstairs and read what you wrote. he said, "sounds like you wrote it." so true! i am so incredibly stoked that some time this year (hopefully more than once) i will be witnessing the greatest band EVER again after a way too long hiatus. i don't know if i will be able to handle it, tho. i may be so far into nirvana and MO (music orgasm) that i'll pass out before they get to the encore. hope not. MAN i can't wait!!!! :D
