Just got back from the show tonight. The boys are so f'n tight!! Everyone was asking for Bob the Drummer (even Michael's dad), and we finally got to hear it during the encore. Kicked major a$$. Phil the drum god, Gurley the guitar whiz, Joie the bassmaster. Loved it all!
Michael added an extra verse to Bob the Drummer tonight. Did anyone catch what those lyrics were? At the end it sounded like he said that verse was for a friend. I'd like to know what that was all about.
The guys have to play more in CA before heading back east. We just can't get enough. Am I right or what? Okay, maybe a little selfish. Go to east coast, then play MORE in CA. How about some of the new unreleased stuff.

I think Mike improvised it to make up for his guitar cutting out as he was launching into the solo for Bob the Drummer. That's just a dynamic of live shows. That happened a couple times last night and I thought he handled it well. In fact, one of the times he had cable trouble, it seemed like the following solo was a little more angry or energetic than it otherwise would've been. Me likes!!! That's good stuff!

I brought my 5 brothers and sisters and 2 brothers-in-law to the show. We all had an absolute blast. I've been waiting to see Dada live for 12 years and it finally happened last night. I am happy! Keep it going, guys. You are one of the best live acts I've ever seen. I'll continue spreading the word. I hope the rest of the tour is fulfilling and successful.

What was the setlist for the Coach House...and dare I ask how long they got to play?? I'm hoping for at least a 20+ song setlist in Chicago....they've been averaging only around 13 so far.
I know I know...I'm just lucky I get to see them at all, but....again, it's been 4 years. Isn't anyone else past the point of hungry, and in the starvation stages, or am I just unique?

your taller counterpart here in va beach is also STARVING for some dada!!!!!! OMG if you could have seen me when i heard the reunion news! you probably could have heard me :D actually. i have been in love with joie and in awe of mike & phil since puzzle. my obsession has increased with every note since. luckily, my friends and family don't think i'm too much of a freak. or at least they don't say it to my face. well, lately not too much. ;) i would be on the road following them if it weren't for all these pesky adult responsibilities, believe me! anyway, just wanted to tell you that you are not - by a long shot, from the sounds of this board - alone, my little friend. :) enjoy the show!

Drove up from San Diego for the Coach House show and it was great. I almost became American Highway Roadkill on the way home. It was raining off the Chizzle. First time at Dada show(been a fan for six years). Talked with Joie for a while after the show and he was super friendly and personable. Got the lowdown on his solo stuff as well as the new Dada albums to be. Loved the Eleanor Rigby and Tired of Waiting improvs. Did you catch Michael's looney tunes riff during their set? They really shined throughout every song. Joie's vocals got better and better as the show progressed. He really belted out Moon with some serious passion in his voice. The two technical problems with Mike's guitar did not make one difference in their performance. The rythym section was rock solid and kept the beat steady and smooth. Can't wait for the new stuff and to see them again. The show was all that I imagined and much more.

Amazing performances all around. I had an inkling that Michael was a good player, I had never seen Dada live before, but from my vantage in the front seat ( I was the spaz with the backwards gray baseball cap that knew/sang every word and played air guitar half the time), I was simply blown away at his virtuoso performance.

Joie and Phil surprised me as well. This was a compilation of three very talented men with timeless material. It is Monday and I am still reeling in awe and respect.

Now I did see from my seat that Michael is in bad need of some new equipment. Not in the amp and guitar department, that little Mesa Boogie amp looks like the original prototype that Mr. Mesa (or is it Mr. Boogie?) first brought to the assembly team. And it seems to be where he grinds out those cranking sounds.

Maybe some pads and pods to replace those manual distortion switches, foot pedals and the like? Ease of operation would be the key to uninterrupted playing.

But first upgrade should be to go wireless. Wires are SOOO 20th century. This would also eliminate the constant struggle between Joie and his need to walk out to the FRONT END of the tables.

I had a friend fly out from North Carolina to see them and it was cool to see the guys out on her table playing to the crowd.

....and someone asked for the set list. I picked it up after the show and the guys were very accomidating and signed it for my NC friend. I will quote it here:

DIM
PLAY
SUR
TRIP
FEET
HERE
SICK (rocked !!! )
HEAVEN
ASK
FEEL
MOON
POSTERS
DIZ
--- encore
BOB
CALI
DOR

(figure it out)

Thanks again to Dada for a spirited , masterful performance.

Let me tell you guys something... It was my first dada concert. Cuffy took me to see THE Band :o

TOTALLY AMAZING!

One thing that Cuffy failed to mention was the table walk! How often does a band come down and play IN YOUR FACE?

I know, the other two bands did it, but when dada was on my table...

I felt like a serious VIP:D

Would I go to see them again? LET'S SEE IF YOU CAN STOP ME!!!

BORN AGAIN dada FAN!!!

Cool things said and can say they descibed the mood very well.
The night was one we all will never forget.
They could have played a marathon show and would have still been called out for an encore.
The music was tight man!
I almost didn't make it home, rain soaked Armageddon highways, but would do it again lads.
Put out those long awaited Albums boys, and come back to California.

James

i think they are putting it ot just fine.16 tunes is very cool-esp puzzle and ahf tunes not played for some time.i would love to hear who you are, real soon and all i am.yes they are not up there in the 20
count set list -it's quality not quantity.for first timers dada adds unique rockin/jamin
parts to all songs live eg. htgt.it's all good
with a dada show-now play nice.plus an
hour and a half playin the way mike does
he needs to possibly ice the hand/wrist.

hopefully joie & co. think the nj shore is friendly cause we need it bad here. i was at the second to last show at the brighton bar in long branch (anyone else remember to spontaneous ode to the broken microphone). it think the place came off its foundation that night. the tradewinds in seabright (see lance's photos) was also cool but closed now. i'd be glad to offer my backyard as a venue. i'm sure i can fit all of us (definitely 200). we could call it shorefest. hey guys, what do you think....seriously.
