Winston-Salem tour report...

The dada show at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem was a great show (of course). The club's located right near the Wake Forest campus so the college crowd was in attendance. The opening band, Carbon Leaf, from Virginia had a pretty good following and I'd guess their were about 100 people in Ziggy's when they were playing. Unfortunately, by the time dada came on at around 11:45 the crowd was down around 50-70. I was up front with the wife so I wasn't too concerned about what was behind me. The boys looked good, sounded tight (as usual), but I could tell Michael was having a time throughout the show. All I can say about his wonderful performance is that he's true rock soldier. He battled through the show and you wouldn't know he was dealing witht pain unless you knew. It seemed like he may have been pacing himself throughout the show but he really let loose on the last few songs. What an incredible talent with the guitar. The crowd that was there was really supportive and the crowd's enthusiastic ovation prior to the encore would lead listeners to believe the numbers were greater at Ziggy's which was really encouraging as a die-hard fan.
Show tidbits: There were quite a few dada fans in attendance with their kids which was awesome to see. Joie and Michael kidded and issued a "disclaimer" prior to Feel Me, Don't You due to the children in attendance. Also, a female fan (likely under the influence) in the audience was trying to request Dorina but kept botching the title, Dora, Dornina, finally something that sounded like Rhiannon, the latter received a humorous response from the band, particularly Phil who was going to share a story about a roadie for the band but hesitated due to the children in attendance. Phil, you left the rest of us hanging.
The show ended about 1:45 and I got a chance to say Michael and he commented on how he saw I brought the wife (a newbie). We were a two hour drive from home so we didn't hang with the boys. Picked up the Calio CD and it's great. Well worth the wait.
The best news for me was Saturday they were in my town, Charlotte, so I got a double shot this weekend. (See Charlotte post)
