Dada was incredible Saturday night in the tent in Uptown Charlotte! They were scheduled to appear at 8:00 and didn't get on until around 9:30 but when they arrived they kicked serious ass. I'd guess there were likely anywhere from 45-100 people but I was upfront so it was hard to tell. The Venue (the club adjacent to the tent) allowed people to pass back and forth so the crowd size seemed to fluctuate a bit. Like Winston-Salem, I was up front and when dada was on, I certainly wasn't looking at the audience.
Dada played the same setlist they've been following throughout most nights the past couple weeks. I thought they sounded better than the night before and it seemed like Michael was having a better night (at least his guitar spoke volumes). There were some drunkards in the very front playing air-guitar and getting all over the front of the stage (kind of annoying) but at least they were enjoying the band and the boys seemed to fun with them. There were a lot of requests flying from the crowd and late in the show it seemed like California Dreaming may have been considered but they stuck to the list. The crowd was very responsive and Michael seemed very appreciative of the support.
Show tidbits: Michael was having a time with a string on his main guitar throughout the set. I believe the D-string busted about 3/4 of the way through HTGT but he re-tuned and played through it and even into the "Tired Of Waiting" ending. He switched guitars to a dark blue Fender strat for Sick In Santorini and Joie joked about the color of the guitar. Michael said he "always needed a guitar that matched the color of the tour bus," to which Joie responded, "That's so rock star." Anyway, Michael got his main guitar back re-stringed and went on but two songs later in Ask The Dust he busted the string again. Again, he played through it great and when he returned to the stage after "It's All Mine" he didn't seem to have any more string problems.
Phil mentiond the LIVE ALBUM SHOULD BE OUT TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY AND AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE!!!!!
Great show for dada and I hope to get to see them again. Hopefully in support of a new album.
Being a Charlotte transplant from SoCal, I'm hoping the crowds support will help bring BFJ or Calio (or dare I say dada) this way when they re-assemble and tour again.
It seemed like the merchandise booth was getting a lot of attention just as it did in Winston. That's a good sign and I hope the boys are in the blue during this tour. Thanks dada for another great show and for coming to Charlotte.

I agree...this was the best show I have ever seen by any band in any setting. Kinda like having your favorite band play in your backyard and you stand right up front. Just like I did Saturday night, right in the middle, next to the afore-mentioned drunks.
Anyway, great show...fellas seemed to have a great time, even with a small turnout. I snagged Joie's setlist, attached here.

I really dig seeing that setlist shorthand since kiki pointed out to me in columbus that if you put a t in mary it would read marty moon
"do you know where costanza is? he was humming this song yesterday.... I have to know the name of it. 'she's a heartbreaker, love taker, brubaker run this prison like a man!' ooh, ooh! something like that... very catchy!"

it was indeed you, kiki. you were showing me the set list you scored at the columbus show. maybe you get smarter the more you drink...kind of an alcohol savant
