Howdy folks, just a few cautionary words if you have plans to make it out tonight to lower Greenville. dada will be on at 10:30 PM. No opening acts and their set will end when the guys are too tired to play. There is this birthday party the owner of this establishment is throwing before they play. Please attend if you can make it. The guys did not even ask for a major appearance guarantee, so they are relying on the fans to help them pay for gas. Just kidding about the gas, but they obviously need our support and help. Parking will be bad, Austin people, it's just like 6th Street's parking: first come, first serve, or valet. They will not be taking credit cards for the price of admission (whooping 12 bucks). BRING CASH!!!! However, once you are in said establishment, our lovely world of commerce will embrace you, yet again and they will take credit cards for others things that cause debauchery. Hope this helps and I will see you folks tonight. Rock and Roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cool:

I was in Austin last night and wanted to go to the Dallas show, too, but I had a prior commitment that made it almost impossible to attend. Sounds like it could be a special show. The Austin show was my first live DADA experience, and it exceeded all expectations!

Just wanted to say that even though there wasn't a large turnout, this show was GREAT. This was my first time to see Dada live...I was able to send the guys a shot of Tuaca, and I'm not sure, but I think the liked it...

Thanks so much for a fantastic set!

All I have to say about last night's performance is, "dada - relevant rock" .
In a day and age of irrelevant rock and the posers alike, it is faith strengthening to see the boys leave their spirits and souls on that stage. Shitty venue, shitty turnout, but the boys left all that they had on that stage. And those of us that "got it" let them know through our screams and applauses and merchant purchases that we understand this band is relevant to this shitty music scene. They played as if there were 10,000 people in that crowd and this was their first live performance. I have only seen a few bands in my life that let it all hang out in concert and quite of few of the bands were local bands trying to make it. Our boys played with the utmost humility and passion. I know and have seen so many amateur musicians that would have never played that venue because it was supposedly beneath them or they were/are so full of their shit ability. Not our boys. They played like it was the Roxy and there were thousands of us in the crowd. And for that Phil, Joie, & Mikey, thank you from the bottom of my heart for keeping rock relevant.

Zebra,
So you were the rowdy crew sending dada the "spirit of the deer"!!! I was at both the Austin show and Dallas show, and two great nights, each one different in its own way, but two unbelieveable evenings of music. A few twists on the Dallas set list compared to the Austin show. Yes, too bad the crowd was rather small in Dallas, but it was quite the up close and personal dada show, which was quite the experience. The Austin show had a great turn out and pretty active crowd, so I think they appreciated that. The drive was killer but worth it now, looking back.

Yes, I sent over the "Spirit of the Deer" and partook of many myself. Did anyone happen to get a set list? I would love to put a CD together from my collections of that set...

Spirit of the deer was pretty funny...although I didnt fully understand it all!...the guys seemed to like it though...I think Gurley thought it was pretty strong the way he nursed it... thats not a bad thing. To say the least the show rawked despite the small turnout and small venue it was by far one of the best shows Ive seen, the guys really played their heart out. I managed to meet some really cool people too since it was a smaller crowd. I managed to get another set list also.

Dim
Play
Sur
Trip
Feet
Here
Sick
Heaven
Ask
Its all Mine
Feel
Mary
Moon
Post
Diz

Bob
Baby
Dor

This is exactly the way it looks on my copy. (Its all mine) is new, its going to be on the new album and it really sounded great, Joie did most of the singing. There was a Monkees song in there somewhere, I think it was called (I wanna be free), but dont quote me on that. The police were in the womens bathroom also during the show for some unknown reason, Phil thought it was pretty funny. The guys did mingle a little after the show and they seemed really tired, they were happy about getting 3 days off and they definatley deserve it. I managed to pick up the new live disc and I have to say it rawks and I also got Joies new album, there arent words to describe how good it is
:o:o:o....again the show was absofreakinloutley great and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart.

JCEM,
The monkees song was after Here Today, Gone Tomorrow. I looked up the Monkees "I wanna be free" but the lyrics don't match, so I'm going to try to track it down - that is unless he was adlibbing lyrics.

I'm not a shot drinker but I'm going to try that tuaca this evening. Will see if I get the spirit of the deer, or just want to speer the deer!

The Spirit of the Deer is something we called this shot back in the old days...I'm 1/4 Chickasaw Indian, and hanging out with some buddies, we found Tuaca.

It's an Italian Liquere, spiced with a little orange, a little vanilla...Kinda reminds me of a "Christmasy" type drink. First time I had it, it went down smoooooooothe, and then it felt literally like I had a small atomic blast of heat hit my insides. I quoted my Grandfather to my buddies...

"Always run with the Great Spirit and the lesser Spirits...Spirit of the Eagle...Spirit of the Deer."

Indeed, this drink seems to give the Spirit of the Deer...not that you gain a deer's speed, but more of that "deer caught in the headlights look" with fascination.

The Monkees song is "I Wanna Be Free" a Boyce/Hart tune. Dang, I bet that was cool! That's the song they used to play in the closing credits of the Saturday morning show.

I still want to hear them do "Pleasant Valley Sunday" someday.

Laydi,
Yes they did do a few verses of "Tired of Waiting" in the end of "Here Today..." They did that same thing at the Austin show.

And yes it is the Monkees "I wanna be free" For some reason the lyrics don't match, but who knows.
