As much as I can remember, I do believe all of the First Ave shows were early shows and done by 9pm so this may be the first show in the Twin Cities that starts later in the evening and doesn't have something going on after the show.
The Fine Line is a more upscale club also. It is a little smaller and much, much cleaner.
Haven't heard of any pre show stuff, but it is also opening night of gopher hockey so I am thinking champps is the place I will be at before the show...

I did speak with the club and they said that camera's and recording equipment are at the discretion of the band.

Arlo darlin', I gave all the boys hugs for you, don't worry. And it's strange, they hug you like you are a long lost relative or something....nice tight hugs.
The show was... you know, I can't even describe it. Better than words. dada fans are SO cool, my friends left me by my lonesome but I knew I'd be in good hands surrounded by ya'all.
I think I heard they are coming back in Feb? Time flies but that's too far off.
Thanks for the compliment, yeah I wore my get-me-in-trouble boots last night. heh heh.....no trouble though.
Or at least I don't think so....
Michael, Phil and Joie, if you read this, thank you SO much for another extremely memorable night. My phones been ringin' off the hook this morning and I can't bring myself to answer it...I am afraid I will come down off my high. Hangin' on the bus after the show was the highlight of my month....my whole year so far! I am sure this post will read somewhat dim but that is how I am feeling....My whole body feels like one big sigh right now.
See you all soon I hope. It was incredible. Big, huge incredible.

Just hang around the crowd of people that will form around them...have something for them to sign, that's a good icebreaker. Once you start talking to them, it's like you've been friends for years...they are very gracious and really appreciate their fans. Don't worry about asking a stupid question...they'll answer anything (well, within reason), and not even give you a funny look!

To start the show, I was in the very back of the club on the lower level. I got there an hour+ before they went on and the front was packed already. So bought some shirts and a CD. The BFJ shirts were very cool! The sounds system was excellent .
We had an overhang above us but it didn't really affect the quality of the sound. what did though was the large number of posers in the back. It pretty much peaked during Joie's solo. the volume of people yapping nearly drowned him out. not a problem up front near the stage I'm sure, but in the back it was annoying. Fortunately once they had been 'seen' they were all able to move on in the first hour, leaving just the fans.
I do not have the set list but it was similar to the other 2.5 hour shows.
Oh, except for the new song they performed... was it the debut performance of their new material?
I believe it was right after Joie's solo, he started it out with a very funkadelic beat and then Phil came back on stage and joined in on the beat and they pounded it out for a minute or so and then MG came back out and they kicked into the song. it was very rocking and had a cool funky beat to it. Did anybody catch the name of it?
Shortly after that I headed up to side of the stage and caught the action from there. the sounds wasn't as good (behind the speakers), but it was a nice bonus for my brother at his first dada show to be within range to actually touch the musicians. he was most impressed! Phil was pounding on the skins like no tomorrow while Joie had a pretty serious expression on his face for the most part and his playing was rock solid. he seemed to be trying to bring the quality of the sound to a new level, which he did! All the while, MG was jamming and jumping and laughing and just going plain crazy on the guitar. It was an awesome display of music!!
Was this their best show ever in MN? It was easily better than the show earlier this year, but for me too many things were just perfect back in '96 for that show to ever be topped... Although, as I was heading to the car, I was thinking if I had gotten there early and scored a sweet spot right up front, I might be singing a different tune...
Guys, Thanks for keeping the music alive!!

These guys are easily the best live band I've ever seen, and to see them up close just amplifies the experience.
Spent the whole show front and center
and was privileged to meet the beautiful Elizabeth.
Peace all,

Here were my personal highlights:
[list]
[*]Baby Really Loves Me
This is one of my favorite songs; they played the finish like it was the last rock song on Earth.
[*]It's All Mine
Excellent; I am very excited about what will be on the new record
[*]Their enthusiasm
Beyond the usual "It's good to be back" spiel I suspect every band gives, I left thinking they were very pleased and appreciative of the fans, and Phil seemed nothing but asolutely genuine in his comments about how much the fan reaction means to them.

Here is the setlist as best as I can remember:
Dim
Playboy in Outerspace
Surround
Trip With My Dad
Feet To The Sun
